            The department of mechanical engineering advises students to study abroad. Engineering is becoming an international field with knowledge acquired worldwide. Many engineers work abroad and some work together with engineers from abroad. Most of the engineer firms are multinationals increasing the demand for engineers with cross-cultural skills. I therefore choose to study engineering abroad so that I get to benefit from all these advantages. I also find it wise to study engineering abroad as it will increase my demand in the job market. Studying abroad will enable me to take advantage of the exclusive academic, practical and course work opportunities in engineering. I will be able to take part in the diverse education systems and get a new approach on the engineering field. Studying abroad will help me better my critical thinking skills. My cross cultural and problem solving skills will be advanced.

My view of the world will broaden since by studying abroad, I will be experiencing a different culture. I will develop a great self-confidence in my acquired knowledge that will open job markets making me grow in to an independent being. Studying abroad opens career opportunities in the internationally competitive world. It also boosts a person resume. Engineering programmes abroad are among the best educational programmes. It enables studying with the most advanced technologies and provides the best training. The engineering profession is not comparable to any other profession. Studying engineering abroad will enable me to study more courses like sciences, arts and languages apart from the engineering course. This will increase my knowledge and develop me as a person.

My goals are to have an extensive knowledge and be open-minded since in the global economy engineers work with diverse cultures. This will enable me cope in my profession. I intend to be an expert in both oral and written communication. This will enable me express my ideas and plans well. I aim to have great teamwork experience since engineering involves professional teams from different fields joining forces to complete a project. I also intend to be aware of the professional and ethical responsibilities expected of me as an engineer. The society succeeds in the existence of trust and when the trust is broken, it suffers. Therefore, not following the professional and ethical responsibilities can cause great tragedy on the part of the society. Lastly, I intend to possess the ability to design experiments, evaluate the data and interpret the results.
